William Ruto to New CSs: If You Don’t Do What’s Right, You’ll Not Go to Heaven

• However, the new Cabinet did not achieve the gender parity that President William Ruto had promised on the campaign trail

President William Ruto has presided over the swearing-in ceremony of his new Cabinet secretaries at State House, Nairobi.

During the event, Ruto said he looks forward to his Kenya Kwanza government serving the people of Kenya as per their expectations.

“Even as we make other appointments, we are going to make sure that we carry the whole country along, and we make sure that every person given the opportunity has the requisite understanding and knowledge so that we can be able to deliver to the people of Kenya,” said Ruto.

The head of state told the CSs that he was making the pronouncements in front of their families and constituents so that they also become his witnesses.

“I don’t expect them to come to your offices to harass you but understand that you are serving Kenyans. I am sure that I have their concurrence and understanding,” Ruto said.

He, however, regretted that many a time, state officers don’t reflect on the oaths they take.

“I expect that everyone will take it seriously,” he added.

Ruto shares a Bible verse

Before concluding his address to the new state officers, Ruto shared a Bible verse from James 4:17.

“It tells us that he who knows what is right and doesn’t do it is counted to them as a sin,” said Ruto.

In his own words, the head of state went on:

“Good people, we have agreed on what is right, so if you don’t do it, you will miss heaven and have a problem with me. We have an agenda for the who country, and the people of Kenya are really expectant.”

Kenya Kwanza’s agenda for Kenyans

The new Cabinet will tackle the cost of living crisis and other economic issues in the East African country, the cornerstone of Ruto’s election campaign manifesto.

“You will have my support because you have no other option but to succeed. Failure is not an option, we have a country to look after,” Ruto told the new ministers at the event in Nairobi.

Ruto vowed to run an inclusive, transparent and accountable government as he aims to transform the regional powerhouse.

“We have no grey areas, we have nothing to hide. We want to serve the people of Kenya,” he said.

However, the new Cabinet did not achieve the gender parity Ruto had promised on the campaign trail, naming just seven women to the team.
