An LRT line could eventually connect you to the Port Lands

Metro Morning spoke to Toronto’s Waterfront BIA about the long-planned waterfront transit line that could eventually connect transit riders to the revitalized Port Lands.

If you’ve been down to the Port Lands, you probably know first-hand that it’s not very accessible by transit, though you can get there by bus.

The city does have a plan to build a Waterfront East LRT but there’s no cash to fund the $2.6 billion price tag.

Not to mention, Toronto has a long list of transit projects ahead of this one that still need to be wrapped up (I’m looking at you, Eglinton Crosstown LRT).

In theory, the waterfront line would run south from Union Station on Bay Street to Queen’s Quay and then east along Lake Shore Boulevard to Villiers Island.
