Razer Project Carol is a game changer
Razer has come up with some crazy concepts over the years, and the latest concept which it brought to CES this year, called Project Carol, is its best one yet. First and foremost, this is a concept product. Which means there’s definitely a chance it never moves into actual full production. But we really hope it does because it’s a game changing product for gamers.
At its most basic, Project Carol is a headrest. But it’s definitely more than that. Because this is a headrest with built-in speakers to provide you with rear sound while gaming. Now, this might not mean much if you already have a surround sound setup for your gaming PC. But many people don’t. And this is why Project Carol is a game changer. It can provide you with rear sound speakers to give you a surround sound experience. Which is perfect for gamers who might be using something like a soundbar or two regular desk speakers.
Project Carol promises to amp up your audio
Now that you know what Project Carol is, here’s some more reasons why it’s awesome. It uses near-field speakers to deliver directional audio right at you. Because they’re embedded in the headrest, the sound comes from behind and you can fold the wings of the headrest inward if you feel like it, so the speakers are pointed more at your head. It also supports up to 7.1 surround sound.
On top of the near-field directional audio, Razer has embedded its HyperSense haptics into the headrest as well. So you don’t just hear immersive audio for your games, you can feel it. On top of all that, the headrest connects wirelessly to your gaming PC with 2.4GHz low-latency tech. Plus Razer says it’s designed to fit all gaming chairs. Not just those which the company sells.
We may never see this product sold, but there’s a ton of reasons why it should be. And that’s why we decided to give Razer Project Carol the Best of CES award this year. Because it’s a game changer made for gamers by gamers.
