Lara Croft returns to mobile in Tomb Raider Reloaded

Lara Croft’s exploits have been a staple in the video game world for almost 30 years, and CDE Entertainment is looking to keep the franchise alive. A new roguelike is launching on mobile called Tomb Raider Reloaded. It brings Lara back into the tomb in style.

If you’re not familiar with the name CDE Entertainment, it was formerly called Square Enix Montreal until it rebranded last year. This company is owned by Embracer Group, and that’s the company that Square Enix sold the Tomb Raider IP to.

Tomb Raider Reloaded is an upcoming roguelike that seems fun

Tomb Raider Reloaded is the first game from the franchise after Square Enix sold it to Embracer Group. As you can expect, it takes the character in a different direction than the console games. You’re still exploring tombs, finding artifacts, and blasting your way through enemies. However, there are some notable differences.

The company released a promo video showcasing a little bit of the game and what to expect. It starts off showing Lara fighting what looks like a large cave monster. After that, we get a hint of some of the levels in the game.

Tomb Raider Reloaded is a top-down roguelike. We see that the grounds in all of the different environments are tiled, but it looks like Lara and the enemies can all move freely.  So, you won’t be confined to a grid.

Throughout the years, Lara’s weapons have always been her guns and other projectiles, and Tomb Raider continues that tradition. In the promo, we see Lara with weapons such as dual pistols, a shotgun, a javelin, and other projectiles. Most likely, Lara will start shooting when she stands still. That’s a popular gameplay mechanic. You’ll be able to add different special powers to your weapons as you play.

Alongside the combat, it looks like you’ll also need to solve some puzzles as well. One of the shots shows the ground with colored buttons that look like they need to be pressed. Another shot shows some obstacles that need to be avoided.
