After the global success of ChatGPT and its integration into Bing, Microsoft has been hard at work to add more functionality to the chatbot and attract more users. Now, just two weeks after launching the desktop version, Microsoft has announced that the Bing AI chatbot will now be available on the Bing mobile app and through Microsoft’s Edge browser for Android and iOS.
Starting today, Microsoft account holders who already have access to the Bing AI chatbot can also use it on their Android and iOS devices through the Bing and Edge mobile apps. Users can initiate a chat session with the chatbot on the Bing app by tapping on the dedicated button provided. Alternatively, users can directly access the chatbot from the homepage of the Edge mobile app. Moreover, Microsoft has also added voice input to both the desktop and app versions, making the experience even more convenient for users who want to search for information without typing their queries.
Integration with Skype
In a similar effort to Google’s Allo, Microsoft is integrating Bing into Skype to make it an AI-enhanced messaging app. The integration is currently in preview, and users can add Bing to any chat using the “@Bing” command. Once added, users can ask Bing the same questions as they would in regular chat mode, and the chatbot will then provide the answer in the form of bullet points, text, or a “simplified response,” which users can choose based on their preference. Although Skype has nowhere near the number of active users as other messaging platforms, Microsoft hopes that integrating Bing will potentially draw more people to the messaging app.
With millions of users waiting to access the chatbot, Microsoft is trying to capitalize on the hype generated by ChatGPT’s success before the competition catches up. The company’s push to expand the chatbot’s availability to various platforms and devices could revolutionize how people search for information or interact with each other on the internet.
