At its launch cocktail party, gamescom latam 2025 announced several new features of the second Latin edition of the world’s largest gaming event, which will be held from 1 to 4 May at Distrito Anhembi in Sao Paulo.
The announcements included the involvement of Pokemon Go’s Senior Director, Michael Steranka, additional insights into Niantic’s virtual reality game Pokemon GO, and the finalized list of games competing in the gamescom latam BIG Festival’s Best Brazilian Game category, confirmation of Level Infinite and Gravity, and more. Michael Steranka and special Pokemon GO interactions
This year, gamescom latam will be attended by Michael Steranka, Senior Director of Pokemon GO. This will be the first time the executive has taken part in an event in Brazil. During his panel at the event, Steranka will talk about the development of Pokemon GO as a “forever game” and the evolution and future of Augmented Reality (AR) games, offering a valuable perspective on the sector’s global industry.
In addition to the executive’s presence, Niantic has confirmed further details of Pokemon’s participation at gamescom latam: there will be special missions and Pokemons for the visitors who want to play the game during the event, available only for who be there in person on Distrito Anhembi.
The attendance also brings an unprecedented initiative: for the first time in the history of the BIG Festival and gamescom latam, the general public’s credentials will be personalized with exclusive Pokemon themed artwork, which will be given to visitors and will become a special collectible item and souvenir of the experience.

With 10 games on the list for the Best Brazilian Game category, the Brazilian titles that will compete for the region’s top prize have been announced. Among the selected projects are Cyberwar: Neon City, Deathbound, Debtors’ Club andE-Lich: Corporate Souls, titles that have already participated in the event in the Panorama Brasil showcase, but were selected in 2025 to compete in the national category of the award.

The winner will be announced on May 2nd at the gamescom latam stage, during the event’s awards ceremony.
More to come at the event
gamescom latam has announced even more companies that will be taking part in the event this year. Level Infinite, which was already present in 2023 and 2024, has once again confirmed its participation. As one of the leading game publishers with titles such as Honor Of Kings, PUBG Mobile, Warhammer 40k and Dune: Awakening, the company promises news for fans and visitors to the event.
Another company returning to the event this year is Gravity. With games to try out on display last year, the South Korean company focused on developing MMORPGs and well known for its Ragnarok franchise, is coming to gamescom latam 2025 with a 120m2 stand, where fans will be able to find the Gunbound and Ragnarök Latin America games and more.
