Chelsea have recently confirmed on their official website that they have completed the capture of Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana. It has been mentioned that the French centre-back has put pen to paper on a seven-year contract with the Blues.
Fofana’s Impressive Run Of Form In English Football
Fofana was out for a long time with a serious injury recently. However, the French talent caught the eye with his performances for Leicester in the 2021-22 Premier League campaign when he managed to put in a series of dominant defensive displays inside his half.
The 21-year-old was a rock at the back for the Foxes as he averaged 1.7 tackles, 1.7 interceptions and 3.7 clearances per 90 minutes in Premier League football. Fofana is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his tackles well to earn the ball back for his side on the defensive end of the field. He usually clears the danger when required and can use his strong 1.90m frame to dominate the opposition in the air.
As long as Fofana can steer clear of injuries, he is destined to have a bright future in European football. Hence, Chelsea have done well to get him on board during this summer transfer window as he will add even more quality to Thomas Tuchel‘s defence.
At 21, Fofana is still quite raw and would need time to develop into a top defender in England. Still, there is no denying that he has the potential to become a success story at Stamford Bridge.
