Maxence Lacroix picked up an injury in last night’s defeat to Liverpool
“Too early to tell,” Alonso replied.
“Probably he felt something on the hamstrings. And we need a couple of days to check what’s going to be the injury.”
It was definitely his hammy, you could see him clutching it as he limped off.
It looked pretty bad too. We could easily be talking multiple months. Let’s pray it’s just a strain, but even in the best case we can’t see him starting this weekend.
Chelsea defence down to bare bones again
What this guarantees is Wesley Fofana and Levi Colwill in the back line, with Josh Acheampong likely to continue alongside them. Jorrel Hato will stay at left back until Pep Chavarria is fit to compete with him again.
It’s not a trio that fills us with confidence. Every week we have a new combination of defenders, none of them seem to work well. We would have hoped the addition of an expensive Premier League experienced defender and a good coach would have us looking more solid by now.
This is the perfect time to play Man U. Might we blow it?
In other news…
Emmanuel Emegha made some interesting moves before missing a penalty in the shootout He must be in consideration for the Man U game.
Alonso didn’t bring on Estevao for even a minute in the game, and had to answer questions about that afterwards.
Estevao didn’t get on the pitch during the game – but fans sang his name through the second half. It’s a strange situation.
