Severe Flooding Impacts Displaced Populations in Gaza
Gaza City, Palestinian Territories – On Saturday, torrential rain inundated numerous tents housing displaced individuals in Gaza, exacerbating the already dire humanitarian situation caused by ongoing conflict, according to local authorities.
The media office of the Hamas-led government reported that approximately 70,000 tents accommodating tens of thousands of displaced residents were overwhelmed by the floodwaters on the initial day of rainfall.
In addition to the flooding, officials highlighted the failure of several weakened structures, leading to injuries among residents, some of which were serious. This situation has intensified concerns over the welfare of those already facing the challenges of living in a post-conflict environment.
