It has emerged that America-born Nigerian afrobeats superstar, Davido was thinking of doing something else with his music career when Senegalese-American, Akon gave him a life-changing advice.
A quote sighted by www.africanentertainment.com on Hip Hop Ville’s Facebook page revealed that Davido was initially contemplating on being a rapper in America when Akon told him to return to Africa and do his music career from the continent of his ancestors.
Akon was quoted as saying: “At the time I was pushing ‘Thug Record’, Davido was in Atlanta trying to be a rapper. I told him, n*gga you better move back to Africa & do your music over there. He listened & went back home. Today, he’s one of the biggest Afrobeats artistes”.
Davido, real name David Adedeji Adeleke, is one of Nigeria’s successful afrobeats singers.
Born in Atlanta, USA on November 29, 1992, the 29 years old singer, Davido has won several coveted awards including MTV Europe Music Award for Best African Act, The Headies Award for Artiste Of The Year.
He has since the onset of his illustrious music career worked with several record labels, among them being: Davido Music Worldwide, Sony Music Entertainment, HKN Music, RCA Records.
The ‘Assurance’ hitmaker has also enjoyed features from many Nigerian and international superstars.
