Ignore Azimio Sideshows and Keep Your Eye on The Ball, Mudavadi Tells William Ruto

  • Musalia Mudavadi said the theatrics being orchestrated by the Azimio team are out to circumvent the rule of law
  • Mudavadi pointed an accusing finger at Raila Odinga for staying too long on the queue of uncertainty without accepting that the electioneering period is long gone

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has urged President William Ruto to stay put, focused and keep his eye on the ball, calling on him not to be destructed or swayed by the happenings being propagated by the Azimio camp led by their leader Raila Odinga.

Mudavadi said the theatrics being orchestrated by the Azimio team are out to circumvent the rule of law, cause unnecessary anxiety and are signalling a recipe of economic instability that could result in threatening national peace and unity.

“Mr President, being our captain keep your eye on the ball. As your foot soldiers, we will support you fully in the quest to move Kenya to the next level of economic prosperity. We will walk with you and stick to our agenda of resuscitating the economy for it to work for all Kenyans,” said Mudavadi.

Speaking at the William Ole Ntimama Stadium in Narok County during Sunday’s Interdenominational prayer and thanksgiving ceremony, where President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua were present, Mudavadi quickly pointed an accusing finger at the Azimio leader Raila Odinga and his brigade, for staying too long on the queue of uncertainty without accepting that the electioneering period is long gone and Kenyans have moved on.

“Any program or agenda that somebody is pursuing now to disrupt the economy in the middle of a drought is an ill-advised agenda. It is ill-advised, kusema kwamba unataka uambie wakenya wasusie products, which products do you want Kenyans to boycott? Yet we want jobs created, when jobs are created more Kenyans will pay tax and when more Kenyans pay tax, the government of President Ruto will be able to do more in roads, in medicine in hospitals, in education na Kenya iende mbele,” Mudavadi added.

Accept William Ruto won

He said it is now evident that many of the Azimio supporters have not accepted the reality of things after the August 2022 Kenya Kwanza victory.

Mudavadi said the time for engaging in political mind games is long gone when a few people want to instil political fear among citizens with an aim of disrupting normalcy by behaving and doing things in a way contrary to that which is generally accepted or expected within the set-up of the society and nation.

“If you want to believe that you don’t want to believe that William Ruto is the President that is your wish, but it is not the reality, the reality is that William Ruto is the President. Kwa hivyo utusizungushe na kusema you don’t accept, earlier ulisema you don’t accept President Moi’s government next there was co-operation, next you said you don’t accept President Kibaki’s government there was a grand coalition, you said you don’t accept President Uhuru’s government there was a handshake, now you are saying you don’t want?” he posed.

In the same breath, he appealed to the media fraternity to stop creating scenarios in the minds of Kenyans through calculated, shrewd and unprecedented narratives regarding the outcome of the 2022 General Election, saying such moves may once again fuel negative energy among Kenyans.

“We had a peaceful election and I want to appeal to the members of the Fourth Estate please let us get out of the election mode, the battle royal was determined by Kenyans, they processed it and elected William Ruto as the President of Kenya, those who had doubts went to the Supreme Court and the Supreme Court unanimously confirmed that William Ruto won the elections free and square, do not take us backwards, encourage people to move forward,” Mudavadi stated.

The one-time Cabinet Minister for Finance also accused those who are raising concerns over the ailing Kenyan economy by blaming it on the current administration saying that the truth of the matter is that the previous regime is to be blamed for the huge public debt ailing the country and tough economic times being witnessed in the country.

“We all know that our economy is in a bad state, Kenyans need to see a change, a new dawn that will give hope for all to move into the future with a hope of the fulfilment of real promises.

“They should be candid enough and accept that they put us in an economic hole, they should not lie to us kwamba serikali ambayo imeingia ya William Ruto ndio imetuweka kwa shida ya kiuchumi. Tuko hapa kwa hali ngumu because of a cumulative series of errors of commissions and omissions that have accumulated and that is why we are where we are,” said Mudavadi.

Mudavadi added that steady plans and policies are being put in place by the government, urging Kenyans to be patient a little longer since it will have to get tough and painful before it gets better, but he has assured Kenyans that there is hope for a better Kenya under President William Ruto’s leadership.
