Japan Aug core machinery orders fall 5.8% m/m

TOKYO : Japan’s core machinery orders fell 5.8 per cent in August from the previous month, government data showed on Wednesday, weaker than a 2.3 per cent decline expected by economists in a Reuters poll.

Compared with a year earlier, core orders, a highly volatile data series regarded as a leading indicator of capital spending in the coming six to nine months, gained 9.7 per cent, the Cabinet Office data found.
