It seems King Charles III is a little desperate to get someone to sing ‘Happy Coronation Day’ to him.
His Majesty’s talent team has reportedly been desperately emailing just about any British artist to request their skills on his big day, which will take place on May 6 to 7.
Unfortunately for Charles, his top picks, Adele and Ed Sheeran, declined the invitation, The Rolling Stone reports.

A palace insider reportedly claims the King was “very keen” to have the pair on board, but they have scheduling conflicts.
The publication also reached out to the artists who declined to play, many of whom refused to cite reasons why. Only Elton John’s team responded, revealing it was due to scheduling issues.
Adele is currently in the midst of her much-awaited Las Vegas residency shows, which she was forced to postpone last year due to complications from COVID-19. But her performances are set to end on March 25, well before the King’s coronation.
Sheeran reportedly declined as he’s due to perform in Texas the day before, with a trip to the UK the next day proving to be incredibly tight.
Yet, the trip is reportedly doable via private jet, which Sheeran has done before.
Not to mention, Sheeran happily closed the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Pageant last June with his hit Perfect, which proved a major hit among the royals and viewers across the globe.

Pop star Harry Styles was also reportedly invited, but declined the invitation, as has Elton John, a close friend of the late Princess Diana, and the Spice Girls.
The final poke to the piñata has been Robbie Williams’ decline. It’s unclear what events have filled out his calendar for May.
Despite these losses, Prince Charles has enthusiastically selected a musical program for his May 6 ceremony at Westminster Abbey, and even commissioned Oscar-winning composer Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber to write his coronation anthem.

Webber, who created the scores for blockbuster musicals such as Cats, The Phantom of the Opera and Evita, has called the opportunity an “honour”.
“I am incredibly honoured to have been asked to compose a new anthem for The Coronation,” Webber said in a statement distributed by Buckingham Palace.
“I hope my anthem reflects this joyful occasion.”
The anthem will be performed by the Byzantine Chant Ensemble, and has been scored specifically for Westminster Abbey’s choir and organ.
While Charles has certainly got the classical musicians on-board, he’s yet to secure any pop stars – though Kylie and Dannii Minogue have reportedly signed up for the gig.
On top of that, a proportion of Take That are also apparently in talks to do a performance.
