Sacramento – The Sacramento Kings currently hold the four seed in a deep Western Conference, and their two stars have been great all season. The duo of De’Aarron Fox and Domantas Sabonis are coming off two consecutive dominant performances against the Houston Rockets. After Friday’s game, head coach Mike Brown called out the NBA’s All-Star voting process.
“If he (Sabonis) and Fox aren’t All-Stars, then shame on the whole process,” Brown told Sideline Sources. Those guys are more than deserving.”
Friday night, Fox scored 24 points with 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Meanwhile, Sabonis joined Oscar Robertson as the only players in franchise history to post at least 15 points, 15 rebounds, and 15 assists in a game. The big man ended the game with 19 points, 15 rebounds, and 16 assists.
“I truly believe you have to give heavy consideration to everybody’s record when it comes to voting for All-Star players. Domas and Foxy they’re just not getting enough love, and it’s a shame. Hopefully, sooner than later, these guys will start getting the appropriate love from around the league that they deserve.”
How things are going for the Kings
The Kings are 23-18 this season, marking the first time the franchise has been five games above .500 since April 2006. Since this season is going better than expected, the team wants their respect.
In the second return of the NBA All-Star voting poll, Fox had the 10th most votes among guards in the Western Conference. Sabonis wasn’t so lucky. The center hasn’t even made the list of frontcourt players. It doesn’t mean the two Sacramento stars won’t make the final roster, but Brown felt it was essential to call out the voting process.
Next, the Kings will hit the road to take on the San Antonio Spurs. Their focus will be back on winning and not the All-Star voting process. Having their players represent All-Star Weekend would be a great honor, but making the Playoffs for the first time in over a decade is the primary goal.
