Lilian Muli’s early life and education

The beautiful presenter was born on May 4, 1982, to Henry Muli and Peninah Muli Mwende.

The second born in her family started her education at Lavington Primary School in Nairobi before joining Loreto Convent High School, Msongari.

She then proceeded to Daystar University, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in communication and newscasting.

After completing her undergraduate studies, she joined he University of Nairobi (UoN) to pursue her master’s in strategic management.

Lilian Muli’s career

The 40-year-old began her media career at Standard Media Group in 2005 as an intern in the production department.

On several occasions, she failed screen tests but did not give up. Her big break came when she impressed a panel of judges and was hired as a news presenter.

Lilian worked at the Moi-family-owned station until 2010 when she joined Citizen TV, owned by media mogul Samuel Kamau Macharia (SK Macharia).

Fashion line

The Citizen Weekend host revealed that she made her first sale of KSh 10,000 from her fashion line.

In a post shared on social media, she said she was excited and found the business gratifying.

I’m just saying there’s nothing as gratifying as investing in a business and seeing it grow. I remember how when I started my fashion line, my first sale was for 10k, and I was so excited.

I learnt a lot of lessons from that start-up. At some point, it wasn’t what I wanted to do anymore, but I made all my money back with some profit.”

La Modelle beauty parlour

Lilian has invested in the fashion industry through an exquisite beauty parlour dubbed La Modelle.

The presenter revealed the parlour targets, high-end clients with deep pockets.

She explained that it’s designed to international standards and offers massage, facials and waxing services. The parlour at Westlands Woodvale Grove also has a barbershop.

“We have so many services in salons, and I know the services that are lacking. I knew I wanted to have a certain feel for the salon and that is what I have done to make sure those who come will get the services they want… I visit a salon every day, and so it is easy to know what fits well with people.”

Manora Farm in Machakos

Lilian also runs a farming venture from their family farm in Machakos county.

She sells oranges from Manora farm and has been marketing the produce on social media. She has contracted riders to deliver the fruits to different parts of the city.

“Our family farm has an orchard where we sell fruits commercially and on large-scale bananas, mangoes and oranges depending on the fruit in season. We also have a dairy farm,” Bizna Kenya quoted her.

Ken Mijungu’s side hustles
