Terem MoffiNigerian striker Terem Moffi has missed out on a top award recognizing the best African player in French top-flight league for the 2022/2023 season.
The award named in honour of Marc Vivien Foe, a Late Cameroonian international who passed away in France while representing his country at the 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup.
For the 2023 season, Nigeria’s Terem Moffi who plays for OGC Nice, RC Lens Ivorian Midfielder Seko Fofana and Congolese defender Chancel Mbemba who represents Olympique Marseille were the three shortlisted players for the award.
In the end Moffi missed out on the award finishing in 3rd place behind Seko Fofana and eventual winner Chancel Mbemba.
The Marseille defender became the second Congolese to win the award in the footsteps of Gael Kakuta who took the award in 2021.
Moffi had a superb French Ligue One season scoring 17 goals for FC Lorient and OGC Nice to get on the shortlist for the Marc Vivien Foe award.
Victor Osimhen and Vincent Enyeama are the only Nigerians who have won the award, both getting the prize during their time with Lille OSC.
