Monkeypox: Four additional cases detected, no evidence of community transmission

There have now been nine cases of monkeypox recorded in New Zealand to date.

There have now been nine cases of monkeypox recorded in New Zealand to date.

Officials are reporting another four cases of monkeypox in Aotearoa, bringing the total number of cases in the country to nine.

The four cases, all reported in the past seven days, have all recently returned from overseas. Three were isolating in the Auckland region, and one in the South Island, following a positive test result.

In all four cases, there is no current evidence of community transmission and public health staff have assessed the risk of transmission from the cases as low.
