Mumbai Indians launched the jersey of its women’s team for the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2023). Jersey is designed by Monisha Jaising.
“The Blue. The Gold. The beautiful Mumbai-sunset-sky-colours. The amalgamation. The new MI jersey which our women would proudly don as they take the field in the maiden Women’s Premier League is finally here. The wait is officially over,” Mumbai Indians said in a statement.
“I was absolutely delighted when BCCI announced Women’s IPL commencing in 2023 to be held in Mumbai,” said Monisha Jaising, the designer of this iconic WPL jersey.
“Mumbai – a city by the Arabian sea has the best sunset spots across its beaches from Marve to Versova to Juhu to Chowpatty. The MI women’s IPL team jersey is inspired by the coral hues of the setting sun across the bays blue sky. The gold ray graphics across the waistline reflect the powerful energy of the sun’s rays. More power to the Women of MI!” she added.
“There’s just immense history over the last 15 seasons in the Blue and Gold. As a new season dawns and history starts to write itself, it’s the perfect way to set the script right, this time with the women at the fore,” the statement added.
