In the first few hours of 2024, 411 babies were born at public health facilities in South Africa.
On Monday, Health Minister Joe Phaahla joined the premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Nomusa Dube-Ncube, and the province’s Health MEC, Nomagugu Simelane-Dube, in welcoming the New Year babies at GJ Crookes Hospital in Scottsburgh.
Phaahla said 211 girls and 200 boys were born, with Gauteng having the highest number – 112.
