Countdown closed early in response to the police cordon outside.
One person is seriously injured after an assault on Wellington’s Lambton Quay.
Police are responding to a report made just before 8pm of an assault on Lambton Quay, a spokesperson said.

The footpath outside of Countdown is cordoned off.
One person has serious injuries and police are making enquiries to understand the circumstances of the incident.
Blood could be seen on the footpath to the left of Countdown Cable Car and on a nappy in the doorway of a neighbouring shop.
Countdown was closed more than an hour early and the area outside cordoned off.
