The Warriors closed a three-game road trip with three losses after falling against the Grizzlies (110-131). Golden State’s head coach Steve Kerr experiment with his lineup by starting four guards along with Draymond Green.
It didn’t work as Memphis was crushing the reigning NBA champions during the first quarter (48-28). The Dubs managed to narrow the gap but the Grizzlies rallied in the fourth quarter (32-17) to take a comfortable win.
“We’ve gotten off to bad starts six-seven straight games,” Kerr said. “So we’re looking for a little daylight early in the game. Memphis is a good defensive team. So we wanted to spread them out and hopefully get some good shots early.
“We didn’t do that. We were impatient early and we took some really tough quick shots. And I don’t think we got organized well enough. I think in hindsight probably got a little too cute with that. But we are where we are. We’re searching a little bit on the road and took a gamble with that and it didn’t pay off.”
With 15 regular season games left to play, the Warriors (34-33) are sixth in the Western Conference. Two teams below them – the Mavericks and Timberwolves – share the same record.
