Sydney had its hottest day of the year so far on January 21.
Thousands packed beaches to try and cool down, with more warm weather on the way for the east coast and South Australia.
It hit 38 degrees at the airport and further west in Penrith.
At 8pm it was still 30 degrees in Sydney’s CBD, nudging over 31 degrees at the airport and 33 degrees in Penrith.
