UFC returns to its flagship venue, the Meta Apex, for UFC Vegas 124 on November 7, following the contentious end of UFC Vegas 123.
The main event is set to deliver a heavyweight clash featuring Waldo Cortes-Acosta and Johnny Walker. This matchup substitutes for a previously scheduled welterweight bout between Sean Brady and Gabriel Bonfim, which was canceled due to Brady’s leg injury.
Cortes-Acosta aims to rebound from two recent decision losses, including a setback against Alexander Volkov at Noche UFC 4. In contrast, Walker made a powerful debut in the heavyweight division last month at UFC 332, securing a knockout victory over Mick Parkin.
The co-main event highlights an exciting strawweight matchup with Tatiana Suarez facing Virna Jandiroba, both former title challengers. Suarez has bounced back with two consecutive wins since her title challenge, recently submitting Loopy Godinez at UFC 327. Jandiroba, on the other hand, secured a decision victory over Tabatha Ricci at UFC Vegas 115 after her own title fight loss.
The main card will also feature matchups between Davey Grant and Elijah Smith, Billy Elekana against Lucas Fernando, Priscila Cachoeira facing Nina Milosevic, and Mitch Raposo taking on Marcos Degli.
TATIANA SUAREZ VS VIRNA JANDIROBA
This matchup showcases two grappling specialists, likely leading to a tactical bout. Fans can expect a gritty exchange as both fighters demonstrate their grappling acumen. Suarez is known for her top control and relentless pressure once the fight hits the ground, while Jandiroba’s submission skills are formidable, allowing her to capitalize on ground exchanges, even from her back.
The pivotal question remains whether Jandiroba can effectively implement her submission game against Suarez, who is generally stronger and a superior wrestler. If Jandiroba fails to dictate the action on the ground, she could find herself at a disadvantage against Suarez’s aggressive style.
BET: Suarez via decision (-120)
DAVEY GRANT VS ELIJAH SMITH
This matchup presents an intriguing clash between veteran experience and youthful vigor, with Elijah Smith standing at 10-1 and on an eight-fight winning streak. Smith has finished his last three UFC fights, showcasing athleticism and relentless wrestling in the Octagon.
Despite being 40 years old, Grant has shown resilience, winning three of his last four contests. Known for his finishing ability, Grant must aim to keep the fight standing, where he can exploit his striking skills against Smith’s grappling prowess.
If Grant successfully defends against Smith’s takedowns and maintains an active striking offensive, he could challenge Smith effectively; otherwise, the young prospect may once again shine.
BET: Smith via KO/TKO/DQ (+175)
PRISCILA CACHOEIRA VS NINA MILOSEVIC
In this bout, Priscila Cachoeira, an aggressive fighter known for her relentless pressure, faces off against rising star Nina Milosevic. Cachoeira has struggled recently, holding a 5-9 record in the UFC and entering the fight on a three-bout losing streak.
Conversely, Milosevic, a two-time IMMAF world champion, boasts a nine-fight winning streak, including a stunning first-round knockout in her UFC debut. To have a chance against Milosevic, Cachoeira must turn this into a chaotic brawl, where her power can shine, but Milosevic’s diverse skill set and momentum position her as the favorite.
BET: Milosevic to win AND Under 1.5 rounds SGP (-120)
