Where to go in Singapore – A mini-itinerary

Singapore may be small, but there are so many things to see and do in this wonderful city. If you’re here for a small vacation or you’re short on time on your business trip, here’s a quick four-day itinerary with the essentials you must see.

Day One

Start your tour with a historical tour. At first glance, you may think that Singapore was always this modern gleaming city with tall, sleek buildings and modern structures. But, Singapore was a British colony in the 19th century and you can still see glimpses of the historical heritage at Fort Canning. The hill you see today was the headquarters of the British Army Barracks as well as the Far East Command Center.

Day Two

If you want to truly explore this land, you must pay a visit to the vibrant museums here. The must-see museums include the Asian Civilizations Museum, the National Museum of Singapore, and the National Gallery of Singapore. The gallery houses over 8000 works of art that belongs to the 19th century as well as contemporary art pieces. It’s located just 10 mins away from hotels in the area such as PARKROYAL on Kitchener Road, Singapore.

Day Three

If you’re a fan of walking, take a tour along the ethnic precincts of the city. Head down to Chinatown and see the beautiful Buddhist temples, heritage shops, and souvenir stalls selling handmade items, as well as the pre-war architecture that is lovingly preserved. You can also try great street foods at one of the many stalls too.

Day Four

Singapore is famous for being a ‘city in a garden’. So, the perfect end to your perfect tour is a visit to the magnificent gardens here. If you’re staying at a family-friendly hotel in Singapore, you can easily board a train or bus and visit the Southern Ridges. The best part of this 10km stretch is the Henderson Waves; a futuristic bridge suspended 36m above the ground, designed to resemble an avant-garde wave.
