A group of Manawatū schoolchildren have had a taste of what university study could be like.
Massey University’s Children’s University programme started last year with 35 children from two schools and was aimed at reaching children who didn’t have access to activities or other opportunities.
Now into its second year, Massey welcomed a new group of children onto campus this week, showing them the courses available at the university.
Massey held a discovery day on Thursday, with more than 80 children from Longburn School, Te Kura o Wairau, Riverdale School and Te Kura O Takaro School taking part.
There was a session introducing Spanish culture and language at the school of humanities, activities at the new student learning complex at the school of veterinary science, and activities at the Massey gym
At the student learning complex the children were shown animal x-rays, models of animals and how to bandage animal legs.
