ChatGPT is the latest superstar in the tech community, and it’s leaving a lot of us in awe (and some of us in fear). The AI-powered chatbot has proven its mettle as a standalone tool, but it’s also the engine behind other AI ventures. Snapchat is going to release an AI chatbot that’s powered by ChatGPT.
We have to admit that AI is the next chapter of the internet. So many companies are investing in AI technology at the moment. Many of them say that AI is going to be a big part of their futures. At this rate, there isn’t much reason to doubt them.
Snapchat is releasing an AI chatbot
While chatbots have been around for a while, it really took ChatGPT to show people that the sky is truly the limit. It’s pretty insane what it can do, and Snapchat sees the potential in it. Snapchat’s CEO Evan Spiegel told The Verge that it plans on releasing the My AI chatbot on the platform.
So, what would you use an AI chatbot on Snapchat for? Well, to chat. My AI won’t play any role in your content creation ventures. Rather, you’ll see it pinned to the top of your conversations. It will sit above your other conversations. You’ll be able to chat with it as easily as you would with your friends and family members.
So, the Snapchat AI chatbot will emulate another human user. It will come complete with its own Avatar and everything. If your friends aren’t on the app, you can send some messages to the chatbot and have a semi-natural conversation with the bot.
In case you’re wondering, yes, you’ll be able to use it for other AI chatbot stuff. So, you’ll be able to ask it questions and have it generate content for you. It’s basically ChatGPT but on Snapchat. There are some limitations, however. It’s a watered-down version of the chatbot, so the ceiling of limitations will be much lower.
You can’t ask the bot to generate anything that would involve sex, violence, or any other harmful content. This is because it has to comply with Snapchat’s trust and safety guidelines. Also, you’re not able to use it to create academic material to cheat in school (sorry kids).
Initially, the company will make this a perk of Snapchat+. This is the company’s premium subscription service that lets users try out new features early. After that, the company will bring it to all of its users.
