Nine-year-old David Balogun is an official high school graduate with his sights set on becoming an astrophysicist in the future.
The Bucks County native recently received a diploma from Reach Cyber Charter School. According to this achievement, this makes David one of the youngest people to graduate from high school, per The Guardian.
Now David is taking classes online at Bucks County Community College. He acknowledges that his teachers are adapting to him because he is, after all, just a nine-year-old.
“They’re able to adapt cause I’m 9, so if I write a little different cause I’m not going to write like a 25-year-old,” said Balogun in a recent interview.
Currently enrolled in two classes at the community college, after having already completed three, this is just the beginning for him as his career and university goals are indeed pretty lofty. David is already checking out Ivy League universities.
“Right now, we’re looking at going to universities or Ivy League universities. I’m looking into studying astrophysics, chemistry, artificial intelligence and engineering. I want to study black holes and supernovas,” he said.
And needless to say, David’s parents are beyond proud of their son, but they are trying to figure out what’s next.
“We’re still kind of grappling with all these things, if that makes any sense, to figure out what is the right fit,” mom Ronya Balogun told Insider.com.
“You can imagine a 9-year-old running around a campus by himself,” added David’s father, Henry Balogun. “It’s difficult for him to focus on what adults usually like to focus on. And they might see him as ‘OK, where is the parent? Where is your dad?’ Or ‘where is your mom?’”
The child prodigy started high school prior to the closures due to COVID-19. Continuing as all students did during that time, virtually, per Insider.com, David graduated with a 4.0 GPA.
Congratulations, David on your amazing accomplishment. We definitely cannot wait to see what the future holds for you!
