Recent Achievements
In 2023, De Miguel experienced his most prolific season at Castellón, where his 16 goals were instrumental in securing the club’s promotion to the second division. Following a challenging period in the second tier, he made a move to Tenerife in the Canary Islands during the summer of 2025, returning to the third division. There, he began his tenure with an impressive six goals in his first five matches and concluded the season with a total of 11 goals, aiding in yet another promotion for the club.
Incident Details
Standing 6 feet 2 inches tall and known for his left-footed strikes, De Miguel was renowned as a traditional striker. On Monday, during the stoppage time of a tightly contested 2-2 match against FC Andorra, he was sprinting for a long pass when he was unexpectedly blindsided by the Andorra goalkeeper.

Former teammate Fernando Román expressed his sorrow on social media, describing De Miguel as “humble, hard-working … above all a good person.” The FC Tenerife organization announced that De Miguel’s body would be transported to Navahermosa in the Toledo province for a solemn farewell attended by teammates and club officials. Tenerife president Felipe Miñambres stated, “We need to give Demi the tribute he deserves, and he will always live on in our hearts.”

Investigation Underway
Authorities in Spain have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding De Miguel’s death, taking into account the potential for involuntary manslaughter charges. As part of standard protocol, a judicial inquiry is being conducted into deaths resulting from non-natural causes, including accidents. Santa Cruz de Tenerife’s chief prosecutor, José Luis Sánchez-Jáuregui, noted that while criminal charges seem unlikely given the incident occurred during gameplay, they await the referee’s report and findings from the sports disciplinary committee.
