Toronto Man Charged with Multiple Offenses in Long-Term Sex Trafficking Case
A 35-year-old man from Toronto, identified as Justin Ferguson, is facing nearly 20 charges related to the alleged sex trafficking of two women over several years. The accusations have raised serious concerns about human trafficking in the region.
Investigation and Initial Arrest
Toronto Police’s human trafficking unit initiated an investigation in September 2023 after receiving reports of the alleged trafficking activities. The investigation revealed that the accused is alleged to have exploited a 28-year-old woman over a six-year period, utilizing methods of deception, coercion, and control. Authorities believe that all earnings from her activities were turned over to Ferguson.
On October 13, 2023, Ferguson was arrested, facing charges that include trafficking in persons, benefiting materially from sexual services, and several firearm-related offenses, such as possession of a firearm without a license and uttering threats of death or bodily harm.
Additional Allegations
Following further inquiries, law enforcement discovered that another 28-year-old woman was allegedly trafficked by Ferguson, this time over an 11-year period. Similar tactics were employed, and it was reported that he initially exploited her when she was a minor. As with the previous victim, any income she earned also reportedly went to him.
Ferguson’s legal troubles continued to escalate when he was re-arrested on October 27, 2023, resulting in an additional 15 charges. These include procuring and trafficking a person under the age of 18, along with assault and sexual exploitation of a young person, alongside previous charges related to firearm possession and threatening behavior.
Potential for Additional Victims
Investigators have indicated that there may be other victims connected to Ferguson, prompting a public appeal for any information that could assist the ongoing investigation.
