Sky News host Liz Storer says UK High Commissioner of Australia Stephen Smith is Prime Minister’s “handpick” after he cancelled an Australia Day event due to ‘sensitivities’.
Ms Storer joined Sky News hosts James Macpherson and Caleb Bond to Mr Smith’s decision to cancel the event which was meant to raise money for charity.
“One of the first things that Albo did when he became Prime Minister was to get himself Assistant Minister for the Republic,” she said.
“We laughed about the fact that he went to coronation because there he is hand on heart pledging allegiance meanwhile it’s like ‘I will stab you first chance I get’.
“He also said if the Voice were to get up at referendum, the very next referendum this government was on to become a republic.”
