Harry Kane Crowned Ballon d’Or Winner
London (dpa) – Harry Kane has been awarded the Ballon d’Or, the most esteemed individual accolade in global football, recognizing his exceptional performance over the past year with both Bayern Munich and the England national team. The 33-year-old striker was celebrated in a ceremony held in London yesterday evening.
Impressive Competition
Kane triumphed over notable contenders, including Kylian Mbappé, France’s leading World Cup scorer, and Spanish sensation Lamine Yamal. In addition to the Ballon d’Or, Kane also earned the title of Striker of the Year.
Kane’s Remarkable Season
In a recent interview, Kane expressed his pride: “I’m extremely proud of what I have achieved this last year – it has been my best season by far.” His remarkable tally included 61 goals for Bayern Munich, along with 12 goals for his national team, which secured a commendable third place in the recent World Cup.
Historic Achievement
This win marks a significant milestone as Kane becomes the first Bayern Munich player to earn the Ballon d’Or since Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in 1981. He is also the first Bundesliga player to win the award since Matthias Sammer, who claimed it while with Borussia Dortmund in 1996.
