Reasons To Visit Madrid: The Cons

Although the pros may seem to outweigh the cons, there are some things to know when traveling to Madrid, as these particular cons may influence your Spain travel plans.

The Crowds

Madrid is an extremely popular city, and because of this, there can be massive crowds, especially during the peak season. It’s the most populous city in Spain, so it’s no surprise that it can often be extremely busy.

If you travel here during peak season, there can often be long queues and lots of crowds at the popular tourist attractions, as well as in bars and restaurants.

This means it’s more challenging to get the whole experience of some of the sights, and it can impact how long it takes you to see the city.

Now, there’s one way to avoid this, and it’s by visiting at other moments of the year. If summer ca be hectic at times, you can avoid crowds by traveling in spring, autumn or winter.

There’s No Beach

Madrid may not be a beach destination, but it has many other attractions.

You can explore the city’s many parks and plazas, go on a shopping spree at some of the world’s best boutiques, or soak up the culture by visiting its many galleries, museums, and monuments.

And when you need a break from the hustle and bustle of the city, you can always relax in one of Madrid’s many tapas bars.

Although, if you’re heading to Spain to enjoy a beach holiday, Madrid won’t be a good option for you.

High Temperatures

As with many places in Spain, Madrid can get extremely hot during the summer months.

Since there is no coast or beaches in Madrid, it can be uncomfortable to be in the middle of a city when the temperature reaches above 40 degrees Celsius.

This can impact your exploring as it may not be comfortable or possible during the day.

Although, if you’re planning on visiting at other moments of the year, the high temperature shouldn’t be an issue.
