Samsung Canada Survey Reveals Technology’s Dual Role in Productivity
A recent survey conducted by Samsung Canada highlights the complex role technology plays in the productivity of Canadians. The findings reveal a “productivity paradox,” where while 75% of respondents believe technology enhances their efficiency, 68% feel it results in an increased workload.
Key Productivity Challenges Identified
Canadians reported several specific aspects of technology that contribute to a sense of being overwhelmed:
- 77%: Messages and notifications
- 70%: Searching for information
- 66%: Competing demands, such as juggling multiple tasks or conversations
- 62%: Switching between applications
In total, 57% of those surveyed indicated that an increased reliance on digital tools leads to more management challenges. Additionally, 59% expressed feeling mentally drained or overwhelmed by technology, and 46% reported ending their day feeling less productive than anticipated.
AI Technology: A Potential Solution?
Samsung has seized the opportunity to promote its own AI solutions, including features like Now Brief and Now Nudge. According to the survey, two-thirds of Canadians believe that at least one AI feature could significantly reduce their workload.
However, the term “potentially” carries weight, as the survey does not assess Canadians’ perceived effectiveness of AI in enhancing productivity. While there is enthusiasm for AI capabilities, there are also concerns over their viability and security, illustrated by instances of unauthorized activities conducted by AI agents.
Survey Methodology
This survey was executed on behalf of Samsung by Leger Opinion, sampling 1,547 Canadian adults aged 18 and older between August 31 and September 2, 2026.
