Bill Maher Reflects on Recent Political Shifts Following Democratic Wins
In the aftermath of a significant Democratic triumph this week, comedian Bill Maher expressed his admiration for President Trump’s unexpected demeanor during a recent dinner gathering.
During Friday’s episode of Real Time, Maher humorously suggested that he might have another opportunity to dine at the White House, alluding to Trump’s surprisingly humble reaction to the recent wave of Democratic victories.
“It’s intriguing to see that just three days post-election, discussions about Trump have dwindled,” Maher remarked. “It feels somewhat surreal that he remains in office after such a significant rebuke; it’s akin to attempting to cancel a subscription while still being bound for another year.”
He further elaborated, “However, he has indeed demonstrated a level of humility. I expected him to be issuing lawsuits against voters individually by now or taking action against poll workers. Instead, even he seems to be saying, ‘You know, I’m a bit tired of myself.’”
Maher also highlighted Trump’s claims of having numerous allies within the Democratic party who are eager to collaborate, despite the President’s own assertions to “block all their bad stuff for two years.” Maher quipped, “Wow, maybe I will get to go again. Look at that.”
This episode aired shortly after Maher responded to Trump’s lengthy tweet, with over 1,300 words, in which the President labeled him a “complete and total loser” following their recent dinner that included guests Kid Rock and Stephen A. Smith.
Following the midterm elections earlier this week, the Democratic party successfully flipped seven Senate seats and 42 House seats, reclaiming the majority in both chambers.
