The Eskom Files is an ongoing investigation by News24.
Italian mining and construction multinational Tenova Mining and Minerals inflated invoices and overcharged Eskom by up to R500 million while submitting claims riddled with significant errors and inaccuracies.
The details about how Tenova inflated, invoiced, and overcharged the beleaguered power utility are contained in a 2019 affidavit deposed by Leon Fouche, a forensic investigator contracted to the law firm Bowmans.
Fouche’s affidavit is part of the Eskom Files, a vast record of financial and legal documents, forensic reports, letters, and emails exposing how executives and contractors allegedly siphoned off billions during the construction of the Kusile mega-build project.
