The Taliban government in Afghanistan has restored at least 341 vehicles and 1,050 military weapons abandoned by the US during its withdrawal from the country in 2021.
In a social media post, Afghanistan’s Ministry of National Defense (MND) said it restored 300 unusable US military vehicles. The vehicles are ready for use by the technical team of the Taliban’s Abu Dujana Brigade, the MND said.
The vehicles restored include 150 Kamaz trucks, 125 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWVs, also known as Humvee trucks), two assault tanks, four Aradeh Taylors, 10 Aradeh Purcliffs, and 15 Humvee ambulances, the MND added.
In another social media post, the MND said it restored 41 vehicles – 30 Humvee trucks, six international vehicles, and five ranger vehicles.
In addition, the Taliban restored 1,050 military weapons of different types, which include Russian and American guns, various types of rockets and heavy weapons, and Kalashnikovs such as M4 and M16, the MND added.
