Uchenna Kanu scored twice as defending champions Nigeria outclassed Burundi 4-0 to finish second in Group C and set up a match against rivals Cameroon at the Stade Mohamed V Stadium in Casablanca on Thursday.
Elsewhere, a goal 10 minutes from the end of normal time by Nthabiseng Majiya earned South Africa a 1-0 win against Botswana to seal the top spot in the group ahead of Nigeria with a maximum of nine points from three matches.
South Africa will face Tunisia at Stade Prince Moulay Al Hassan in Rabat also on Thursday in the last quarterfinal tie.
However, Banyana Banyana will be without reigning Africa Player of the Year Thembi Kgatlana who suffered an Achilles injury that ruled her out of the remainder of the tournament.
Banyana Banyana team doctor Rodney Mokoka said the 26-year-old striker will undergo an operation in South Africa and be out of action for between five and six months.
Hosts Morocco will face Botswana, who advanced to the knockout stage as one of the best third-placed teams, on Wednesday at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
The first quarterfinal will kick off earlier on Wednesday with Zambia taking on Senegal at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca.
Not only will the winners of the quarterfinals take a step closer to potentially being crowned champions of Africa but they will also secure qualification for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
The road to the World Cup will also not end there for the two losers of the quarterfinals as they will have another chance to secure qualification by taking part in inter-continental playoffs.
