They were handed over following chaos in Dublin on Thursday when police cars, buses and trams were torched and shops looted. Violence erupted after a knife attack on three children and their helper.
Some 34 people were arrested.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland provided the Irish police with the cannons after a request from Garda Commissioner Drew Harris. They will be operated only by the Garda.
Friday night was quieter on O’Connell Street amid a heavy police presence.
A small number of people were arrested for public order incidents.
The Garda said: “Training has taken place to refresh trained operators and water cannons are now an available tactic to public order operational commanders.”
A five-year-old girl injured in the knife attack remained in a critical condition in hospital on Friday. A female care assistant, in her 30s, was in a serious condition.
The two other children, a five-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl, suffered less serious injuries.
So far £434,469 has been raised for victims of the stabbing attack, and those who intervened.
