TRIBUTES are pouring in for a world-famous chef who died “peacefully” on Christmas Day aged just 54.
Bill Granger’s heartbroken family today announced his death, saying he passed away in hospital with them at his bedside.
The news of his death has come as a shock to pals like Hugh Jackman, Jamie Oliver, and James Martin.
Bill was a dad-of-three and is being remembered as a “dedicated husband and father” to his daughters.
Actor Jackman and his ex Deborra-Lee Furness wrote a joint Instagram statement to share their shock.
They said: “We are devastated to hear the news of Bill’s passing. His talent, his joie de vivre, the way he brought people together, and his commitment to family were inspiring.
“We will miss his friendship most of all. Our love goes out to Natalie and their three incredible daughters Edie, Ines and Bunny.
“Rest in peace. Deb and Hugh.”
Chef Jamie Oliver, 47, also said he was “devastated” by the news of Granger’s death.
The chef described Bill as a “wonderful human” who made good food.
He wrote: “This is devastating news, I’m so sad to hear this, what a guy he was …. a wonderful human, kind calm soul.
“I admired everything he represented in food. I remember the first time I met him many moons ago he couldn’t have been nicer and his food so good.
“Sending so much love to all his family. Rest in peace, Bill, he will be sorely missed jox xx.”
Fellow chef Nigella Lawson wrote: “I’m heartbroken to hear this. So cruel. Deepest love to N, E, I and B.”
TV chef James Martin added: “So shocked. The world has lost a special person a brilliant man and talent… my thoughts and prayers to his family … a wonderful man gone too soon.”
Bill’s loved ones too to Instagram to share the heartbreaking news today.
They wrote: “He will be deeply missed by all, with his loss most profoundly felt by his adored family, who are grateful for all the love and support that has been given.
“It is with great sadness that the family of Bill Granger announce he has passed away on 25th December at the age of 54.
“A dedicated husband and father, Bill died peacefully in hospital with his wife Natalie Elliott and three daughters, Edie, Inès and Bunny, at his bedside in their adopted home of London.”
The post added: “He will be deeply missed by all, with his loss most profoundly felt by his adored family, who are grateful for all the love and support that has been given.”
Bill was born in Sydney, Australia and followed a career with food for 30 years.
He was self-taught, and went on to start up restaurants all over the world.
The dad then went on to author 14 cookbooks and make five TV series.
In January this year, he was given a Medal of the Order in Australia.
