Liberal Senator Kerrynne Liddle has addressed speculation she could become the Coalition’s next Indigenous Australians spokesperson.
Julian Leeser recently quit his position of shadow minister for Indigenous Australians after the Liberals announced their opposition to a constitutionally-enshrined Voice to Parliament.
Ms Liddle said finding the replacement for Mr Leeser was a decision for the Opposition Leader.
“That’s a decision for Peter Dutton,” Ms Liddle told Sky News Australia.
“I’ve always held the belief that you can contribute to improving the lives of Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander people through a whole range of approaches, and Indigenous Affairs is not the only one,” she said.
“I’m focused on prosecuting my work as a Senator for South Australia but also the committee work I participate in which is critically important.”
