Fort Smith, Ark. (March 20, 2023) — Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund (ASPSF) is taking action to help the employees impacted by the Tyson Foods Inc. Van Buren plant closure.
Thanks to the Van Buren Chamber of Commerce, the community will band together and provide a comprehensive career fair in Van Buren on April 26.
The fair will consist of local educational providers, prospective employers, and community support services, including: ASPSF, University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, Fort Smith Adult Education Center, Crawford County Adult Education Center, and the Department of Workforce Services.
Phyllis Thompson, the Chamber’s membership director, said the outpouring of community support has been overwhelming since Tyson announced the Van Buren plant will close May 12, affecting 969 staff members.
