Bill Shorten has dismissed bookmakers’ predictions that the Coalition will win the upcoming election.
Speaking to Today, the former Opposition Leader referenced what the betting markets forecast in the last election.
“They paid out on the Thursday before the election assuming Labor could win,” Mr Shorten said.
“I stopped listening to the bookmarkers about May 19, 2019.”
Today host Ally Langdon quizzed Mr Shorten on a poll today showing Anthony Albanese’s popularity in freefall.
“Bill, I’ve got to say, it does feel mean to say it, that he’s as unpopular as you were?” Langdon asked.
Shorten replied: “That does seem mean as well, Ally. I think your initial judgment was right.”
