Toronto Blue Jays left-handed starter Hyun Jin Ryu will make his season debut when the team faces the Baltimore Orioles on Aug. 1., manager John Schneider told reporters pre-game Friday.
Ryu has been recovering from Tommy John surgery that he underwent in June of 2022.

The Orioles currently lead the AL East and are 5.5 games ahead of the Blue Jays. They also own a 5-1 record against Toronto this season.
In his last rehab start with triple-A Buffalo, Ryu threw six innings of two-run ball. He threw 85 pitches and topped out at 90.8 m.p.h with his fastball.
With the 36-year-old returning, the Blue Jays will turn to a six-man rotation. Before going on the Injured List last season, Ryu had a 5.33 ERA and 27 innings pitched through six starts.
Reliever Chad Green could also make an appearance in triple-A soon if his outing in the Florida State League goes well tomorrow. The right-hander is also recovering from Tommy John surgery.
