- On Thursday, December 8, Bungoma residents went to polls to elect their new senator after the resignation of Moses Wetang’ula
- According to provisional results, Wafula Wakoli is in the lead with 64, 591 votes followed by Mwambu Mabonga with 37,349 votes
- Wafula Wamunyinyi of Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party is currently in the third position with 17,165 votes
Ford Kenya candidate Wafula Wakoli has taken the lead in the Bungoma senatorial by-elections according to the provisional results.
According to the tallied results, Wakoli is leading with 64, 591 votes followed by former Bumula MP Mwambu Mabonga with 37, 349 votes.
Former Kanduyi MP, who was flying the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party ticket, is third with 17, 165 votes.
Currently, IEBC is only waiting for results from one ward, from the Webuye East constituency before declaring the final results.

In terms of constituencies, the youthful politician has led in 8 only coming second in Bumula where the UDA candidate won.
In Kabuchai Constituency, the Ford Kenya candidate has 11903 votes, the UDA candidate got 2713 with Wamunyinyi of Azimio got 737 votes.
In Kanduyi Wakoli led with 11846 votes, while former area MP Wamunyinyi came second with 8195 votes and Mwambu of UDA got 4214 votes.
Ford Kenya candidate also led in the Kimilili constituency after garnering 6,341 votes followed closely by the UDA candidate at 2981 votes.
