Colombia intends to deploy new USV. (Erich Saumeth Cadavid)
The Colombian Navy (ARC) intends to deploy the new electric unmanned surface vehicle (USV) CotEnergy Boat in April, Admiral Francisco Cubides, commander of the ARC, told

.
Adm Cubides confirmed the deployment earlier this month after the USV – produced by Atomo Tech and Cotecmar – was operated during a demonstration at the Colombiamar 2023 naval fair, which was held from 8 to 10 March.
The navy demonstrated capabilities of the vessel to representatives of the different navies of the region.
Adm Cubides said the USV can be used both in marine missions and in investigation and security operations. Noting the USV was developed entirely by Colombian engineering, he emphasised the dual use of this vessel.
The CotEnergy is designed in aluminium with a compact but lightweight structure. It is propelled by an electric motor – powered by solar panels – and is operated remotely or fully autonomously, Atomo Tech told
