The Nairobi High Court on Thursday, December 29, froze the assets of a government employee who accumulated Ksh180 million under unclear circumstances in a span of 8 years.
When the freezing order was made, the employee who worked at the Ministry of Transport had assets worth Ksh62 million.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission moved to court on August 5, 2022, accusing the employee who works at Supply Chain Management, State Department of Housing & Urban Development of fraudulent deals.

The accused is alleged to have worked closely with his wife and son to defraud the government.
According to EACC, the the public servant used his senior position to award himself and his family members tenders through proxy companies.
He has six prime parcels of land spread over three counties; Nakuru, Kajiado, and Machakos. The lands in totality are worth Ksh26 million.
“The lands are located in Njoro/Ngata Block 2 in Nakuru County, 3 parcels of land in Kajiado/Kaptei North, Kitengela in Kajiado County, and Kinyaata/Syokisinga in Machakos County,” EACC told Justice Esther Maina of Nairobi High Court
The accused also has 6 vehicles registered under his name, valued at Ksh30 million.
In the period under investigation (2014-2021), the accused earned Ksh6 million in salary and EACC wondered how he made Ksh180 million.
Apart from his immense wealth, EACC also accused him of awarding his family multimillion tenders.
The Nairobi High Court was told that the man’s wife and son had received Ksh233 million in their bank accounts.
The money was traced to tenders awarded from different government ministries under unclear circumstances.
“The assets will be frozen until the case is mentioned again on January 25, 2023,” Justice Maina ruled on December 29.
