Delta Fire Chief Guy McKintuck said Jubinville was a brave and dedicated first responder who served the community “with an unwavering commitment.”
Jubinville was behind the wheel of a sedan that crashed through a concrete barrier on the second level of UBC’s multi-storey Thunderbird Parkade around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, ending up on the ground.
At the time, Mounties said a portion of the concrete barrier dangled precariously above the vehicle, which landed vertically with its nose on the ground. Efforts to extract the driver were complicated by snow.
The driver was seen pulled from the wreckage around noon. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
RCMP is investigating the cause of the crash.
