At least 116 residents in the Kitisuru ward in Westlands braved the cold night on Friday, December 16, after a raging fire razed their houses.
The residents were interrupted from their sleep by the inferno, whose cause was yet to be established.
Property of unknown value was destroyed during the night inferno leaving hundreds of the Kaptagat village families homeless as they prepared for the Christmas festivities.
Area Member of Parliament Tim Wanyonyi rushed to the scene on Saturday morning, December 17, to console the fire victims and offer his relief donation.

Wanyonyi donated mattresses, blankets and foodstuff to the fire victims and promised to do his best as the area MP to improve their living conditions. He also pledged to reduce fire cases in the ward.
Some of the area residents requested to be facilitated with a pipe to connect to a water source to help in emergency responses should such incidences occur.
Wanyonyi intimated that he had spoken with the County department in charge of relief to offer emergency and efficient services.
He called on City Hall and governor Johnson Sakaja to ensure a fire station is installed in the area to improve emergency response.
Equally, he assured them that he would still fight for their rights as the area MP, explaining that they require good services.
“I am still your voice and leader. I will protect and advocate for your interests. Never be in doubt,” he assured them.

He urged local investors in Westlands to lend a helping hand to residents to give back to the community.
The youth, he remarked, should be at the forefront in seeking gainful income-generating activities, and they should not be involved in criminal activities.
“If you have a criminal n your house, it is better to talk them out of the vice instead of leaving them to the mercy of the world,” he urged parents and the residents.
He discouraged locals from engaging in illegal businesses like brewing illicit alcohol and instead urged them to seek his audience to engage in more positive and legal businesses.
