Scottish actor, Robbie Coltrane, who starred in Harry Potter movies as Hagrid, has passed away.
The veteran actor who also starred in ITV detective drama, Cracker, was 72 years old.
His agent, Belinda Wright, confirmed his death in a statement.
According to the statement, Hagrid died in hospital near Falkirk in Scotland.
In the statement, Madam Wright referred to the late actor as a “unique talent”.
She indicated that his role as Hagrid “brought joy to children and adults alike all over the world”.
The Scottish actor also featured in the James Bond films Goldeneye and The World Is Not Enough.
According to Madam Wright, she will “remember him as an abidingly loyal client. As well as being a wonderful actor, he was forensically intelligent, brilliantly witty and after 40 years of being proud to be called his agent, I shall miss him.”
She said: “He is survived by his sister Annie Rae, his children Spencer and Alice and their mother Rhona Gemmell. They would like to thank the medical staff at Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert for their care and diplomacy.”
She urged “Please respect Robbie’s family’s privacy at this distressing time.”
The late actor, it would be recalled, gained international fame with his character of Hagrid in the Harry Potter film franchise based on the characters created byJ.K. Rowling.
