THIS is the heart-stopping moment brave Ukrainian fighters carefully tiptoe around a massive Russian bomb before blowing it up.
Dramatic footage shows the bomb experts preparing to detonate the 1,100-lb Russian FAB-500 bomb they came across in the Kherson region.
The two soldiers can be seen slowly walking around the bomb as one of them approaches it.
Then the gigantic bomb is safely neutralised as it sparks a massive explosion.
The images were obtained from the Rear Admiral of the 36th Separate Marine Brigade Mykhailo Bilynskyi.
The clip was shared with a caption that read: “Marine sappers expertly neutralised a Russian FAB-500 bomb near a village in the Kherson region that was deoccupied during the counter-offensive.”
The commander of the engineering unit of the 36th Separate Marine Brigade is quoted in the statement as saying: “Peaceful life is returning to the territories liberated by Ukrainian soldiers.
“We will do everything to protect and secure Ukrainians from the consequences of the ‘Russian peace’.”
The 36th Separate Marine Brigade added: “Glory to Ukraine!”
The FAB-500 is a general-purpose, air-dropped bomb with a high-explosive warhead.
It was designed by the Soviets in the 1950s and is primarily used by the Russian Air Force.
It comes as civilians were told to flee from Kherson after Ukraine’s troops were only 12 miles from reclaiming the city.
In a humiliating blow to Putin’s invasion, Ukraine has recaptured swathes of territory in the past few weeks.
In another embarrassing blow for the Russian leader, Ukrainian forces shot down four KA-52 attack helicopters in just 18 minutes.
Ukraine’s defence ministry shared a picture of four helicopters with the caption: “Today, in just 18 minutes, service members of #UAarmy shot down 4 Russian helicopters that were spoiling beautiful autumn skies in the south of Ukraine. No place for Alligators here.”
Meanwhile, Putin’s army is said to be on the verge of total collapse.
Ukraine’s General Staff reported that Russian forces have received orders to stop the offensive in some front-line areas.
Russian soldiers reportedly refuse to fight and disobey orders amid “extremely low morale.”
General Sir Richard Shirreff told Sun Online: “I think the scene is being set for a decisive rout of the Russian Army in those parts of Ukraine they have occupied since February 24.”
